Tamzyn-Lee’s passion for baking started young. Some of her fondest memories are of watching Cake Boss with her parents, mesmerised by the towering creations and intricate designs. But her own journey in the kitchen was far from the polished perfection of TV. There were cakes that collapsed, icing that wouldn’t set, and cookies that came out a little too “crispy.” But for every failed batch, she tried again, learning something new each time.
She also spent many hours in the kitchen with her dad, watching as he carefully measured and kneaded dough for koeksisters. There was something special about the patience and precision it took to get them just right—something she carried with her into her own baking.
As a self-taught baker, Tamzyn-Lee found inspiration in both local and international cake artists, blending techniques from around the world with the warmth of home baking. Honey Butter isn’t about factory-perfect cakes—it’s about handmade treats, full of character, with the little dents and scars that come with being made by real hands. Because at the end of the day, what matters most is that every bite is filled with love, real butter, and a little bit of magic.
